Original Oil on Canvas 18″ x 24″ and Beautifully Framed
My friend, Laguna architect Gregg Abel stopped by the house one day with several small crabapples that a friend had grown. He commissioned me to do a painting with them, so I placed a clove of garlic next to them to show the scale. I had taken several other pictures, some with regular sized apples, to show the scale, and this one also caught my eye. I was experimenting with how to show the scale of the small apples and lined them up with some larger ones on a linen placemat. I liked the focus on the apples themselves, in a somewhat surreal arrangement.
