“Bubba Goes to Church” is 30″x24″ with a gallery wrap.
This work was inspired by a B&W photograph of Ken’s grandmother taken on her lawn as she was going to church. She emigrated from Poland/Ukraine around 1905 and was a stout woman who grew up working on the farm. She would routinely challenge all of her grandkids to arm wrestling and beat them all. This picture was taken in the summer. She would get dressed up in her best clothes and walk up the small hill to main street and go to church at St. Joseph’s.
She had a yard filled with weeping willows. The green background was added to give it a surreal feel and to bring Bubba, a woman of substance, to the foreground.
