In three years at the University of Illinois, “the galloping ghost” gained 3,637 yards in 20 games and scored 31 touchdowns. In a game against Michigan, Grange scored four touchdowns on four runs in the first 12 minutes of play. He went on to a pro football career as player (1925, 1929-1934) and Assistant Coach (1935-1937) with the Chicago Bears. He brought the first huge crowds to pro football when he joined the Chicago Bears on Thanksgiving Day, 1925. Grange is a member of both the College and Pro Football Halls of Fame.
