Ruth Taylor (1908-1984) is best known for her role as Lorelei Lee in the 1928 film version of Anita Loos’ Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. The actress/comedienne, who signed with Mack Sennett in 1925, had made her film debut in 1918 in Jack Spurlock, Prodigal, and would appear in a number of silent movies and “talkies” through 1934. Taylor is the mother of actor/screenwriter Buck Henry (born in 1930), who wrote the screenplays for such films as The Graduate (1967), What’s Up, Doc?, and wrote for several TV shows, including the 1995 series “Get Smart”.
